Panel & service upgrades

If your house still runs on 100 amps, a fuse box, or a panel with no room left in it, that's the bottleneck — no EV charger, no generator, no new circuits, until the panel itself gets upgraded to make room.

We handle the whole upgrade: load calculation, permit, coordination with Central Maine Power for the service drop or underground lateral, the meter socket, grounding and bonding, and the inspection. Most single-family upgrades are a one- to two-day job once the utility date is set.

  • Residential service upgrades — 100A, 150A, 200A and up, to a 400A max panel

EV charger installation

A Level 2 charger is only as good as the circuit behind it. We size the circuit for the car you have and the one you'll have next.

We install hardwired and plug-in Level 2 units from any manufacturer, and we'll tell you honestly whether your existing service can take one or whether the panel needs attention first. Garage, driveway, detached garage and multi-unit installs all welcome.

  • 240V dedicated circuits, typically 40A–60A
  • Hardwired or NEMA 14-50 / 6-50 receptacle installs

Standby generators

Maine loses power. A standby generator means you'll find out from the neighbours rather than from your own dark house.

We're a Generac authorized dealer and we handle the electrical side end to end — pad, transfer switch, tying it into your service, and commissioning — whether that's a whole-home system or an essential-circuit setup, coordinating with your propane or natural gas supplier for the fuel connection.

Recessed lighting done badly can turn a living room into a conference room. Layout is most of the job.

We plan lighting around how you actually use the room — where you read, where you cook, where the glare lands on the TV — then install it cleanly with minimal damage to finished ceilings.

Wiring, additions & remodels

New square footage, or old square footage with wiring that predates your grandparents.

We work alongside contractors and homeowners from rough-in through trim, and we're used to older Maine housing stock — plaster walls, balloon framing, knob-and-tube, and additions that were wired by somebody's cousin in 1987.

Troubleshooting & repairs

The small stuff that's been annoying you for two years, and the stuff that shouldn't wait another day.

Diagnosis first. We find the actual cause rather than replacing parts until the symptom stops — which usually turns out cheaper as well as safer.

Before you call

Questions we get every week

Estimates for new work — panels, generators, EV chargers, lighting, remodels — are free. Diagnostic visits for a fault that needs tracing are billed as service work, because finding the problem is the work. We'll tell you which one your job is when you call, before anyone drives out.

Service upgrades, new circuits, generator installs and most remodel work require a permit and an inspection in Maine. We pull it and handle the inspector. Like-for-like fixture swaps and simple repairs generally don't. If a contractor tells you a panel change doesn't need a permit, that is a reason to call somebody else.

The work itself is usually one to two days. The schedule is set by the utility disconnect and reconnect date and by the inspection, so from signed quote to finished job is commonly two to four weeks. You'll be without power for part of one day.

Sometimes yes, even on 100A service. It depends on your actual calculated load — heating type, water heater, range, dryer, AC — not just the number on the main breaker. We run the calculation before quoting, and where the service is tight, a load-management device is often cheaper than an upgrade.

One year on our workmanship, on everything we install. Equipment — panels, generators, chargers, fixtures — carries its own manufacturer warranty, and for Generac units we handle the registration and the warranty claim if one is ever needed.

Light commercial, yes — offices, small retail, rental property and multi-unit buildings. Large industrial and high-voltage work isn't what we do, and we'll say so rather than learn on your job.
